THE BROOKLYN BUREAU CELEBRATES 141 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY

Brooklyn, NY - June 6, 2007 - The Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service celebrated 141 years of building stronger and healthier individuals, families and communities in New York City at a recent event at Bridgewaters in Manhattan. The 141st Anniversary Celebration event, which nearly 500 people attended, was generously supported by Barclays, the title sponsor.
Honorees included Robert E. Diamond Jr., President of Barclays PLC; Robert F. Gartland, Managing Director of Morgan Stanley and Brooklyn Bureau Vice Chairman; and Donna A. Santarsiero, Executive Director of the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service, whose distinguished accomplishments have enhanced the economic and social welfare of urban communities.

Notable guests included Jason Kidd of the Nets; Bruce Ratner, President and CEO of Forest City Ratner Companies; Gerard LaRocca, Chief Administrative Officer, Americas, Barclays Capital; Charles J. Hamm, Chairman Emeritus of the Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service; and Brett Yormark, President and CEO of Nets Sports and Entertainment.

The 141st Anniversary Celebration was among the Brooklyn Bureau's best fundraisers in its long history. The agency raised more than $615,000 in net revenue after expenses.
Proceeds from the 141st Anniversary Celebration will sustain its many vital community programs and services that benefit thousands each year-including day care and afterschool programs, vocational and educational preparation for emotionally disturbed teens, family counseling and preservation, job training and placement for individuals with disabilities and shelter services for homeless women with mental illness.
